PERSONALITY:
Jester is exactly what happens when you bake together: the magical girl aesthetic, a trickster god and sugary treats. She is a whirlwind of good intentions, pastries and mischief.
The daughter of Nicodranas' most famous courtesan, The Ruby of the Sea, Jester spent most of her childhood indoors and locked in her room. An esteemed courtesan having a daughter was simply bad for business. This lead to a rather lonely childhood where Jester kept to herself often and tended to enjoy hobbies like painting and drawing. Though, when her mother spared the time, she and Jester had an extremely close and loving relationship. Her mother provided for her quite well and Jester has never come close to financial hardship. This, and her isolation often contribute to her somewhat skewed outlook of the world. Jester grew up pretty sheltered and spoiled.
Jester carries herself with a lot of childlike wonder, curiosity and amusement. She's genuinely optimistic and sometimes a little naive about the world. She tends to mean well. She's easily excited and carries a pretty 'gung-ho' attitude towards a lot of things. She's very much of the 'leap now - look later' brand of impulsive. She can be a little cocky and a bit stubborn when the situation calls for it. Though when Jester is not being a little shit head, she is earnest and a lot of what she says and does can be taken at face value. She cares deeply and tends to wear her heart on her sleeve.
Through this means - Jester has developed the habits of a naughty child who's often bored all the time. It's easy to catch her tinkering and messing around with whatever she can get away with. From re-arranging aisles of items in shops, creatively stocking items to acts of religious vandalism. She is a retail worker's nightmare. She's a fan of harmless pranks and absolute chaos, but a part of her draws a heavy line at intentionally doing actual damage.
There are moments where Jester can be extremely insensitive to those around her - she's quick to try to make things up and course correct as needed. She's self reflexive but only after a tantrum. Though what she makes up for in the occasional lack of self awareness, she makes up for in heart.
Jester doesn't always have the best concept of consequences and has gotten into a lot of trouble for it. The main reason why she's on the road is because she pranked the wrong person. She impersonated her mother and locked one of her client's out naked in their balcony, and that client happened to have been a lord and pretty keen on getting revenge. Jester used this as an opportunity to find adventure and go look for her father. A man she's never met but has attached a somewhat fairtytale like story too. NaivetΓ© can be a double edged sword after all.
This makes her an ideal follower of the Traveller, a trickster deity who came to her when she was very young and lonely. Jester's relationship with her deity is odd, being a lot more buddy-buddy than revered - she's pretty set on calling the Traveller her best friend and communicates with him pretty often via her sketchbook. The Traveller's role in Jester's life is pretty large and he often makes his presence known in the sense of warmth from her holy symbol, small pranks like taking a bite out of her food and actually visiting.
In turn, Jester's pretty willing to do a lot of things for the Traveller. Going as far as offering to ditch the party or getting into actual trouble. She has a sort of unshaken faith that the Traveller is leading her right where she needs to go and that's a main source of her strength.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
In DND Speak - Jester is a fourth level, Trickery Domain Cleric. Which means as a spell caster she has access to quite a number of spells and skills. Here are some of the things she uses pretty often:
- Blessing of the Trickster - Makes it easier for her and her companions to stealth.
- Dark Vision - Jester can see in the dark.
- Thaumaturgy - A minor illusory spell that creates spooky effects, such as booming voices, images and/or loud wind.
- Invoke Duplicity - Creates a duplicate of herself that can roam around the battlefield and distract enemies.
- Cure Wounds, Sanctuary, Healing Word - Two variants of healing spells.
- Spiritual Weapon - A giant lollipop is summoned and used to whack enemies. Occasionally, she licks the lollipop avoiding the blood of her enemies.
- Guiding Bolt, Inflict Wounds, Hellish Rebuke, Toll the Dead - These are differently flavoured run of the mill damaging spells. Arranged by least to worst nightmare fuel.
- Zone of Truth - Basically a lie detector test, that she uses to ask things about people's crushes and if someone shaves their butt or not.

Prose Sample
There's something almost surreal about the way the wilderness of this land looks. The blossoms feel both familiar and untempered. She's heard the stories from the Traveller. She's fallen asleep to him talking about the mysteries of the elemental planes, and woken up to nightmares of skeletal oddities lurking in the Ethereal plane. She wonders if he can find her here, lost in the Feywild. The land of unicorns, sprites, and mysteries - it's familiar and both distant to how she envisioned it.
Her steps crunch against the twigs below her feet as she almost dances through the forest. A part of Jester wonders if she should be scared. Wandering the woods alone, but was she really alone? She giggles. She pulls out some neatly done brochures from her haversack. They're new! done up in some coloured inks and fine parchments.
She moves to attach a brochure of the traveller on one of the bigger trees.
"Traveller?" She asks the air, hoping that he can her all the way here. "Can you hear me? You haven't spoken to me for a while and that sucks. I really, really miss you. I'm putting up some brochures so other people can know how awesome you are, okay!"
After a beat, she says. "This place is nice but I haven't seen any unicorns. Can you send some unicorns too so I can tell Beau that I'm telling the truth. Thanks."
